			<title>Main Street Mile</title>
			<link>http://www.sbrli.com/latest/main-street-mile-new-records.html</link>
			<description>

For the first time, the sixth annual Main Street Mile,
sponsored by The Runner’s Edge (www.runnersedgeny.com) in Farmingdale, was held in the morning. A nice
cold front pushed Hurricane Earl out to sea, resulting in perfect conditions for
course records to fall. The 6th installment of the Mile brought out the top
runners on Long Island to help raise money for Pat LaFontaine's Companions in
Courage Foundation (http://www.cic16.org) ! The event started with a quarter mile children fun run on
Main Street. Then the event heated up when Leonora Petrina from Bayport, for
the second straight year, set a new course record for the women, besting her
2009 record time by 5 seconds to a blazing 4:39. Chris Mammone, two-time winner on the men’s
side, finished 2nd this year 10 seconds behind Sean Brosnan of
Wantagh who cruised to a new course record with a 4:09. Congratulations and
thank you to all who participated in this challenging race, and to all of the
kids who tackled the 1/4 mile fun run!!! Come down next year and see how fast
you can run a mile. Mile Results (index.php?option=com_ijoomla_redirect id=76) SBRLI Photos (photos/index.php?do=photocart viewGallery=1351)

			<title>Runner’s Edge Tobay Triathlon</title>
			<link>http://www.sbrli.com/latest/tobay-triathlon-turns-20-2.html</link>
<description> This was the 23rd running of the Tobay Triathlon sponsored
by The Runner’s Edge in Farmingdale. Earlier this week, it seemed the weekend was
going to be washout with all the rain we were having. Thankfully, the sun made its way back for a gorgeous weekend. It turned out
to be a beautiful race day morning with cool temperatures and bright blue skies.

The morning began ceremonially as Teddy Roosevelt himself
addressed the athletes. After a few words from the former president, the first
wave was off and the 23rd anniversary triathlon was underway! After that first
wave, a rainbow of colors entered the water to begin their 1K swim, 15K bike
and 5K journey to the finish line.

Tom Eickelberg of Garden City repeated this year with a 59:08. Magdalena Stovicko of Long Beach took the overall for the women.Congratulations to all of the athletes - and to the first timers!

Youngster Show Their Stuff

Future Long Island star triathletes took center stage
at the sixth annual Runner’s Edge Tobay Junior Triathlon on Saturday. These
future stars swam 200 yards, biked 1 mile, and finished off with a mile run as.
It was a pleasure to see these youngsters trying so hard as family and friends
cheered them on for the whole race. If was just a picture perfect day!

Congratulations to all of you, job well done! Please don’t forget to do a quick review of the TRE Tobay
Junior Triathlon (youth-events/tobay-junior-triathlon-3.html) . It takes less than 5 minutes and it is a great way to

			<title>Smith Point Triathlon</title>
			<link>http://www.sbrli.com/triathlon-race-reports/smith-point-triathlon-2010-inaugural-event.html</link>
			<description>

Saturday packet pickup was standard fair. It was held at the Mastic
Beach Marina. The volunteers knew what they were doing, but they were a little
over helpful in my opinion. I think they were told to explain the basics to
everyone, not a bad idea, but when someone says they know what to do it is time
to move on, not keep pointing and talking. Minor issue, and it happens some at
all races, but this was excessive. That problem continued into Sunday. On the
way home my wife noticed that the website said packet pickup was Noon to 5 pm,
and the EventPower email said Noon to 4 pm. That could be a problem if you
don't notice the difference, if it was a difference and not a typo.

The instructions were standard also. It clearly stated that you should
get there between 5 am and 5:45. I arrived at 5:15 and they were still putting
up cones and the volunteers had not been told what to do with traffic. That
caused some confusion, and it led to several people stopping my car to ask if I
was a participant. I must have been asked 4 time in 200 yards. There was
traffic still arriving at 6:15.

It is very very dark at Smith Point Park at 5:30. The park has no
lights in the lot. Transition is in the corner of the parking lot. Here is the
biggest draw back to this race. The entire transition area is on black top. It
was not swept, and did not appear to have ever been swept. Little rocks and
pebbles everywhere, which were very painful to run on (I do a flying mount) and
a pain in the ass to keep out of your bike and running shoes.</description>

			<link>http://www.sbrli.com/latest/port-jeff-rotary-biathlon-2.html</link>
<description>This year has been a tough year for training and racing with all the heat and humidity. It sure was a pleasure to have a break this weekend with picture perfect weather. For the second year in the row the Central Park triathlon had perfect racing conditions. The inaugural Smith Point Triathlon couldn’t ask for better weather for its year. Congratulations to all the finishers this weekend.
